The state attorney general's office filed a lawsuit Wednesday claiming nine "bounce house" manufacturers' products contain unsafe amounts of lead.
Some vinyl used in the inflatable play areas for children was found to contain lead levels that far exceed state and federal regulations, a news release said.
The Center for Environmental Health contacted the attorney general's office earlier this year after conducting tests on the houses. The lead can be transferred from children's hands to their mouths during play, the release said.
Many of the companies are based in California. The reason for the lawsuit is to "force these companies to stop using lead-containing vinyl immediately and to cease selling the lead-containing products," the release states
